Sitting with her legs pulled up to her chest and her arms wrapped around her knees in the tower windowsill Cally rested her head on her knees sighing quietly. The only reason she sat there was it was raining out tonight, otherwise she would have been outside. Dressed in a simple pair of a medium wash jeans and lightweight white cotton t-shirt, Cally pulled her lightweight grey hooded sweater tighter around herself hoping to gain a bit of warms from the soft lining. Her hood was pulled up covering her dark hair which had been left down to frame her small face. Reaching a hand up the Ravenclaw girl brushed a piece of stray hair away from her face, but it was more out of habit than necessity as she wasn't really looking at anything, Just staring blankly out the fogged window, through the drops of rain which had landed on the glass.
Lost in her thoughts, Cally drifted between reality and memories. Memories of her past, and her present. Memories which never seemed to fade no matter how far removed she was from the situation. Distantly, Cally heard the soft rustle of clothing, as if someone were walking closer to where she sat, but Cally paid little attention to it. It wasn't until she heard the fall of footsteps right behind her that she turned to acknowledge whoever had joined her.

Ava was disappointed that she couldn't spend the afternoon outside due to the rain. To entertain herself she decided to visit the upper tower, it was usually deserted and it was a great place for her to study. She climbed the tower steps in a quick pace, causing the knee-length white skirt she was wearing to rustle. As she rounded the corner, Ava noticed someone else had occupied the tower. She recognized the girl as a fellow Ravenclaw, but had never really talked to her. She was caught in a dilemma; Ava didn't want to disrupt the girl, but there was nothing else to do with this weather. 'It will be good to make some new friends anyway,' she thought sighing to herself.
Ava walked closer to the girl sitting on the tower windowsill, who turned in her direction when she was next to her.
"Sorry to interrupt, I was just coming up here to study," she said smiling, "I'm Ava by the way, you're a fifth year too right?"

Cally smiled at the familiar, she had seen the other Ravenclaw girl around the common room and in some of her classes. What was her name though.. It started wit an A... Ann.. April?... No that wasn't right... Smiling politely, Cally barely had time to contemplate anymore names before the girl introduced herself. Ava, that was it! "You're not interrupting at all," Cally said with a smile her Scottish accent coming through now more than it had in a long time. "Just a bit of day dreaming," Cally winked playfully. "I'm Caleigh, but you can call me Cally." She smiled again. "I know we have a few classes together, what were you planning on studying for?"
Moving slightly and swinging her legs so she was sitting on the sill facing Ava, Cally pushed her hood down and let her thoughts disappear into the back of her mind where she would deal with them later.

Ava smiled, "It's nice to meet you Cally, I just love your accent." She briefly remembered hearing it a few times in Transfiguration and Charms.
"I was planning on studying for Transfiguration. I don't want to fail the big exam on Monday," Ava sighed. Transfiguration wasn't one of her best classes. It didn't help that the professor hated her because of Andrew, her older brother. "This tower is a great place to spend a rainy day," she commented as she sat down on the tower floor and leaned up against the wall. The Transfiguration book weighed a ton and it felt like a small child had sat on her lap when she placed the book there.

Cally smiled at the compliment to her accent. "I thank ye," Cally said with a playful smile laying the accent on thick jokingly.
Transfiguration test on Monday? What test? Had Cally really been so wrapped up in her thoughts that she had forgotten to study or.. was it announced the day that she skipped classes... Kicking herself mentally, Cally turned her attention back to Ava. "It's shouldn't be that hard," Cally commented thinking about what they had been learning recently. "What parts are you worried about?"
"It is," Call agreed quietly nodding her head "Quiet and dry, but still open enough with all the windows you almost feel like you're outside". As Ava sat down on the stone floor, Cally moved so she was sitting next to her. The floor was colder than her spot at the window but that was probably due to the fact she'd bee sitting in the same spot on the sill for over an hour now.

"You're welcome," Ava replied with a smile.
She turned to chapter six in the book, "I hope it's not too hard, but my mother will kill me if I don't get at least an E on my O.W.L for Transfiguration, so I need all the practice I can get. I'm mostly worried about changing the color of hair. I don't have an issue changing the color, but I do changing it back.
Ava glanced at Cally as she sat down next to her, "What are you worried about?" she asked flipping quickly through the chapter. "And yes, there's a nice atmosphere here that's as relaxing as sitting out by the Black Lake," she sighed contently.

Cally listened quietly as the other Ravenclaw girl told her of her worries about their up coming test in transfigurations. It was true, practice was about the only way that one could make sure they weren't going to totally mess up. "Well why don't you try changing my hair colour back and forth a couple of times, and well if it gets stuck a funny colour, then it will give me an excuse to go to Hogsmeade village and pick out some new clothes that don't clash horribly." Cally smiled, she was teasing, but was serious, she didn't mind if her hair got stuck a certain way, it would just be the colour of the week. After all the spell did wear off eventually just not for a week or so.
"I am worried about not stressing out to the point that I'm sick and not doubting myself that I"m wrong." Cally sighed, those were her two biggest fears when taking tests. Generally she knew the material, it was just a matter of staying calm and not stressing herself out. Not to mention a certain guy who's been taking over my thoughts since the last trip to hogsmeade... Cally shook her head to clear it of her thoughts. She must not get too distracted she had to concentrate on studying.

Ava smiled at Cally's offer.
"Are you sure? I don't want to mess up your hair. It's really pretty," she turned to the page with the spell, "And I would definitely help you pick out new clothes to match," it felt good to joke around with someone. Ava had lots of friends and acquaintances, but she never had time to talk with them.
The Ravenclaw studied the page in the text book carefully before shutting it. Cally was talking about her worries now.
"Oh I use to do that during first year. It was right after my father died and I wanted my mother to be proud of me. She was depressed and didn't really interact with my brother and I until about two years ago." Ava's trustworthy nature was showing itself again. She had revealed a secret that none of her close friends knew, to an acquaintance she barely knew.

"Yes I'm sure," Cally said nodding her head reassuringly. "I'm cool with different. After all, I'd rather stand out then blend in." Cally laughed slightly at herself knowing she of all people was the least likely to stand out in a crowd, but heck, she had a big personality once people got to know her, it was just that whole awkward warming up phase that she was quiet during.
Cally watched as Ava studied the transfiguration text book and then close it. "Shopping trip in the near future?" Cally joked smiling at her fellow Ravenclaw. As Ava said that she'd had the same problems in her younger years, Cally looked up at the ceiling. Ava had lost a parent as well, but she hadn't seemed to say it in a way that needed commenting back too.
Cally herself knew what it was like to have a parent die, all the sorries and sad looks you would get from people. After a while it got old and it was just a fact, that person was just no longer around and you had to deal, or at least that was what it was like for Cally. "How did you manage to get over it?" Cally asked truely interested. She would give anything to get over her anxiety before tests.
Looking back at the textbook Cally smiled. "It's now or never", she said pointing to her hair. "My favorite colour is purple." Cally paused, smiling as she waited for Ava to change her hair colour.

Ava's legs felt ten pounds lighter after she moved the heavy text book, "Maybe..I do need new sneakers. I got ink all over my old ones. Actually though, I have a photographic memory, so it doesn't take long for me to learn things."
She tucked some hair behind her ears and looked out the Tower window. Rain was sliding down it, slowly. Cally asked her about how she overcame her fear and she need to think before answering. She seemed truly interested though, so Ava tried her best to answer.
"I guess I just realized that I can't pass every test. I would need to be myself for my mother to be proud and know inside if I truly tried my best. This happened after I ended up in the hospital wing during the final exams in first year. I'd had a panic attack because I couldn't remember the troll wars we learned about in History of Magic," she snorted, "I mean come on, troll wars? I was stressed out over trolls."
"Well I guess I can try," Ava said standing up and motioning for Cally to do the same. "Just give me a second to prepare."

Cally smiled watching as Ava moved the text book, knowing that her legs must feel better, the box weighted a ton. "Humm well either way I vote trip to hogsmeade, just because. Regardless if my hair is brown or green." Cally winked playfully.
Listening to what the Ava was saying, Cally considered the other Ravenclaws words. "But doesn't it frustrate you knowing that you can pass every test, knowing that if you just tried a bit harder you would have got that higher grade?" Cally paused, maybe she was weird and stressed to much, that was always possible. "I dunno," Cally said softly, "It's like that only way I can be happy with me is if I do pass, and then once I'm happy and proud of myself then others can be?..." She trailed off shrugging her shoulders. "Maybe I'm just weird."
Standing as Ava motioned her to do so, Cally prepared herself to be charmed and for her hair to be changed in colour. "Whenever you're ready," she with a kind smile.

"That would be fun," Ava replied smiling. It would be good to go shopping with someone. She took out her wand and twirled it around. "That is true, there's always a chance that you didn't try enough. I guess you just need to trust that you can do it. It seems to work because I haven't failed an exam yet this year." Ava looked at Cally again before saying, "You aren't weird, believe me, everyone worries about tests."
The Ravenclaw took a deep breath before raising her wand. "Ready?" she asked and without waiting for a response she said, "One...two...three!" At three she waved her wand and said the spell for changing hair color. Cally's hair turned a bright pink. Ava chuckled at the strange change. "Well pink is definitely your color."

Cally smiles at Ava's kind words. It was good seeing the same situation from a different set of eyes, and granted she wasn't convinced she could get over her fears right away, at least Cally knew she wasn't the only one that had these fears, and didn't feel as foolish anymore for having these fears. "Well it is good to know I'm at least partially normal," Cally laughed.
"Ready," Cally nodded moving her feet shoulder width apart so she wouldn't be knocked ff balance. Not that the spell hurt or anything, but being charmed no matter by what always affected the body differently and it was just better to be prepared than not. Taking a deep breath as Ava counted down, the small brunette squirmed slight as the spell hit her, it tickled slightly as her hair changed colour but that was about it.
Hearing Ava chuckle, Cally took hold of her hair and looked at the pink tips. Smiling at the pretty bright pink colour Cally remembered a movie that had recently come out in the muggle world which was the one thing she had liked seeing with her family. "Have you ever heard of a movie called Grease?" Cally asked looking up at Ava, "well I now have the same colour hair as one of the actors."

Ava thought for a minute, the name of the movie didn't sound familiar, "I don't think I've heard of it before," she chuckled. "Now let's see if I can change it back," she waited a second, thinking of the spell.
"Okay," she counted to three again and said the counter-spell. Cally's hair turned almost all the way back to its original color, except for one strip about an inch thick.
Ava pumped her fist in the air, "Woo, I didn't completely mess up." She smiled.

Cally laughed, "well maybe in muggle studies I'll have to convince the professor that we have to watch it on account that it is only the current trend in America, and witches and wizards in London could learn wonders from it," Cally smiled. You would like it i think, it's funny. Cally gave a silent sigh as she let go of the ends of her bright pink hair and let it fall behind her shoulders.
Cally nodded as Ava said she was about to do the counter spell. Preparing herself, Cally stood with her hands in the front pockets of her hooded sweater.
As Ava celebrated by pumping her fist into the air, Caleigh couldn't help but giggle. "Awesome!" She smiled, "You can try as many times as you want," Caleigh said her smile firmly in place. She was having fun and it had been a long time since she'd been able to smile and enjoy random times like these. "After all, practice make perfect."
