Cally liked this, opening up to Deran seemed natural, and he was right, talking did help, but she still didn't see sharing her story with anyone but him. Watching as Deran pulled the same piece of red cloth from his pocket that he had held before, Cally raised a questioning eyebrow. "I still don't see how anybody could ever show you anything but kindness. You're the most kind and thoughtful person I've met in years..." Cally trailed off her blush flushing her face yet again as he spoke, her heart fluttering. "Like wise, I thank ye Deran for proving that not everyone is out to use people." Cally smiled up at him, her Scottish accent becoming a bit more pronounced as she suddenly became, for whatever reason, more shy and embarrassed in his presence
Cally looked at the red cloth that Deran was now holding out to her and offering her. She took it gingerly from him passing the fabric through her fingers and wondering what it was that it could mean so much that he would bring it into the conversation at that point. Like a light bulb a potential reason came to her mind. "Did this belong to your sister or one of your family members?" Cally asked softly looking searching for his eyes. "I can't.. it means so much to you..." Cally trailed off starting to pass the piece of cloth back to him.
As Deran changed topics slightly, Cally frowned slightly wondering what could be so bad about him that he wanted to tell her but still couldn't. "Well tell me," Cally soothed softly lacing the fingers of her bandaged hand with his as if for support. "Don't be afraid, there is nothing that you could say about who you are that would upset me..." Cally trailed off looking up again waiting for him to speak.

Deran intertwined his fingers with hers, her reassuring words bringing hope to him. "I've never told anyone this before...this cloth did belong to my sister, is was from one of her favorite dresses, the one from the picture. My clan...my family were murdered because of thier views. You see, I'm....I'm not human, Caleigh."
Deran paused as he looked at Caleigh. His face was torn with overwhelming saddness, yet the look of hope still glinted in his eyes. "I am the sole surving member of the Kieler clan. I am the leader of this clan beacause it is passed down from father to son, or to the family member who shares the views of the Kieler clan. Our views, weren't shared by others of my race, infact they hated us for it."
Deran took a deep breath, squeezing her hand as if to convince himself that she hadn't left yet. "My family and clan vowed to never drink the blood of a human being or that of a healthy animal."
Deran looked down, whispering, "I'm a vampire, Caleigh."
Deran looked up and frantically kept talking as if to reassure her that he wasn't some monster that others had immediatly believed. "I am a pureblooded vampire, not a trace of a single drop of human blood runs through my veins. Though, I still believe I have a soul, and I have kept my families vow and will to the end. I only eat when necessary and only drink from dying animals. I hate to do it...I feel from all these years that not one person could love me for what I am."
Deran searched Caleigh's eyes as he placed his sister's cloth in her hand again. "I want you to have this Caleigh...because you have given me the strength to continue on, you have given me a glimmer of hope in this seemingly never ending darkness. You can hate me, but I....I will always be there for you." Deran bit his lip as he forced himself to hold back the I love you. He had only just met Caleigh, but he felt as if he had known her for all his life, he had finally felt alive again and he knew that he would always protect Caleigh and be with her even if she swore to never see him again or tried to kill him.

Cally smiled as she felt his fingers intertwine with hers. It was defiantly worth skipping class to sneak away to Hogsmeade village for this to happen. Toying with the piece of fabric Cally could only imagine wat the dress itself had looked like, the fabric was beautiful, like nothing she'd ever really seen or felt. When Deran said he wasn't human, Cally tilted her head up to look at him confused. "Well you can't be that far off," Cally said naively,"you're hear and you look human."
Quieting again as he spoke about his clan and family, Cally hung on to every word he was speaking. He was truly mesmerizing, and she couldn't help but be falling for him. Cally's confusment grew as he continued to speak. Something about his views, and those of his family being different, it was all a little much to keep track of at once. Squeezing his hand back Cally continued to look up at him reassuringly, wait did he just say drink human blood? Cally retracted in her mind what he had just said as the pieces started falling together. But he wasn't like what she read about.
When Deran finally said what he was, Cally sat there a bit sheck shocked trying to figure out wat exactly to say, how to put her thoughts into words. however the one thing she didn't do was move away. Never moving from her spot Cally looked up into his eyes again. "I don't care if you're a vampire," She said softly. "You're Deran Kieler too me. You helped me, and made me feel more important and special than anyone has in years." She paused.
Before Cally had the chance to continue, Deran was speaking again. Listening the small girl tried to hide the smile that was tugging at the corner of her mouth by biting her bottom lip. "I believe you have a soul too," She said offhandedly nodding her head in agreement. "I see who you are not what you are," Cally said softly her smile spreading across her lips now. "And nothing you can say will change that. Face it, you might just be stuck with me. And as for other people, I don't see how anyone couldn't love you".
Cally smiled "I could never hate you," she murmered her finger curling around the piece of fabric again. "But I guess this means I can't invite you to go out for dinner wit me now considering we don't share the same diet..." Cally paused looking up at him and smiling to show she was teasing. "So what do you say we do then?"

Deran's smile started to spread slowly across his face as Caleigh spoke to him. He wanted to lift her up and spin her around. Instead he leaned forward, giving her a hug, whispering in her ear "Thank you Caleigh, for everything." Before he withdrew he kissed her softly on the cheek.
He laughed at the mention of dinner, something he hadn't done in a long time. He felt like he was bursting with joy, the first time in two hundred years he was accepted and he felt loved. "Well, we could go get something to drink....or we could go to the beach...it's really up to you, seeing how all I want is for you to be happy." Deran bit his lip, but then smiled when he realized how cliche he sounded.
Deran smiled at Caleigh, "You know what I said earlier about never leaving and being there for you, I meant it. Though we would have to work something out with Hogwarts seeing how I'm not a student there anymore." Deran stated laughing. "You know I have this huge house that no one has really been in for a long time, and it get lonely there...so maybe you could spend your winter and summer break there, that is if your okay with that. I just want to let you know that my home is now your home as well, I'm sure they would have loved you...Nira would have been dragging you to play dolls with her." Deran laughed as he held Caleigh's hand.

Cally couldn't help but smile herself as she noticed Deran's smile spreading. Seeing him so happy so soon after he'd seemed so afraid of telling her what he was, was a relief. Cally honestly didn't know what she would have done if something she had said or done had further upset him, it would have been heartbreaking. Feeling Deran lean in and wrap his arms around her in a hug, Cally Leaned closer to him enjoying the feeling of just being in his arms... It was something she wasn't used to. Getting a hug that actually meant something rather than just being a gesture of good nature. Cally bit her bottom lip hard as e kissed her cheek trying not to squeal in delight and her blush deepened and her heart raced a little faster. She felt as happy as a child in a Candy store, and she couldn't remember the last time she had ever felt this happy.
Cally considered what he was saying. A drink would allow them more quiet time to talk together, as would the beach, but she was hardly dressed for the beach, and not to mention she was a horrible swimmer, he'd probably end up having to save her from drowning if she ended up in the water at a depth where her feet couldn't touch the ground.. And it wasn't like that was a hard task with Cally being as short as she was. Cally's smile widened as Deran said all he wanted was for her to be happy. It was cheesy yes, but Cally knew he meant it, but the only thing that would continue to keep Cally happy was to make sure Deran continued to feel loved and happy as well.
"Oh I don't know," Cally sighed slowly. "We could go to the beach, but I'm not much of a swimmer," she said honestly deciding she'd better be honest upfront, just so Deran would be aware that there was a possibility of her drowning. "But a drink sounds wonderful too. So you pick".
As Deran spoke about always being there for her, Cally felt a warmness growing in her middle. She belonged somewhere, with someone who accepted Cally for who she was, not for who she pretended to be every other day of the week. "I can sneak away from classes anytime to come see you outside the grounds.... But I would love to spend breaks with you". Call smiled up at him, "And I would have defiantly loved playing dolls with Nira".

Deran smiled, "Allright, a drink it is then. I wouldn't want you to get swept away." Deran laughed. "Though, I must admit the only place I have been to is the three broomsticks, but if you have a different place in mind, that would be fine as well."
Deran still held her hand as he stood up. "I'm glad that you will come see me, though don't slack off in your classes, we wouldn't want you failing out." Deran teased her, his eyes sparkling. At the mention of Nira he smiled, "Yeah, I say you're already part of the family, and breaks and holidays at the Kieler's will be the best in years, you won't regret it."

Cally glared up and him crossing her arms pouting. "I wouldn't get swept away... I just wouldn't be able to touch the ground anymore," she huffed rolling her eyes sarcastically. "It's not my fault I was built in a fun sized package". Cally tried to keep the smile from showing too much, she was just playing and she hoped Deran would know that. Letting her arms fall to her sides again, Cally placed her hand back in his, right where it had been. "The Three Broomsticks is fine with me. It probably won't be that crowded considering most people are at work and i might not be on an authorized school trip..." Cally smiled sheepishly.
Standing up with him Cally stood close, her hand still in his as she started to walk toward the Three Broomsticks. "Me slack off... Neverrrr..." Cally smiled. "I could never imagine regretting going to stay with you. And I like being part of this family" Cally stated honestly with a warm smile tilting her head up to meet his eyes again.
It wasn't a long walk to The Three Broomsticks, but once there, Cally had to blink a couple of times letting her eyes adjust to the dim lighting in contrast to the bright sun outside.

Deran laughed at her mention of her height. When she talked about the unauthorized school field trip, he jokingly got a serious expression on his face. "Now, Miss Caleigh, I'm very disappointed in you. That's a lifetime of detentions for skipping out on your classroom duties."
Deran laughed, and his eyes quickly adjusted when they stepped into the three broomsticks. "My treat, what would you like to drink, think of it as the first of many celebrations to the new family member." Deran smiled as he held up an imaginary glass, toasting the air.

Smart man not to comment on my height, Cally thought smiling and moving closer to his as they walked toward the small tavern she knew oh so well. Smiling as Deran jokingly got serious with her, Cally just couldn't help herself from laughing at what he said. "Really, I can't see a life time of detentions being anywhere near punishment for me. In fact why don't I skip classes more so that I get into more trouble with you." Cally looked up at Deran with a totally innocent smile as she wondered how he would take what she just said.
Cally giggled at Deran as he held an imaginary glass up and toasted it. "Umm.. just a butterbeer, thanks," Cally said her voice muffled in the noise of the crowd which was bigger than she had expected but still smaller then if Hogwarts was out on a school trip.

Deran laughed, "Everything is trouble at the Kieler house, so be prepared when you step through the door, you might get swept off your feet." Deran winked at Caleigh.
He noticed the slight crowd and made sure that none of his enemies were lurking nearby, one thing was for sure, he didn't want to attract attention. Deran made his way up to the bar and ordered Caleigh's drink and a glass of water both in the larger cups, which were conveniently tinted a dark red. He waited a couple of moments, paid and then handed Caleigh her drink. "Lead the way, my dear." Deran laughed remembering that people didn't talk like that. "I guess my age is getting to me."

Cally smiled as Deran mentioned that everything in the Kieler home was trouble. "Oh really?" She questioned softly. "You might just have to explain what you mean by that." Cally winced and moved closer to hi and out of someones way who totally wasn't paying attention to where they were walking as they got closer to the tavern.
Letting go of Deran's hand she followed behind him up to the counter stood leaning against the bar as he ordered. When he handed her her drink Cally smiled. "Thanks," She said with a warm smile and turned to lead the way to a back booth and took her seat with her back against the wall so she could look out across the crowd and see who was there and who wasn't.
"How old are you actually?" Cally questioned. "I mean you look like you're in your early twenties, but I have a sneaky suspicion that you're a bit older."

Deran laughed when she mentioned the trouble part, "I'll just have to leave that to your immagination." Deran noticed Caleigh getting brushed aside, but he decided not to make an issue out of it.
Deran walked over to a table near the back that was next to the corner of the room. He offered Caleigh a seat so she could people watch with him, something he rather enjoyed doing. He sat down in the other seat, so he could also view the crowd. "Didn't your parents ever tell you to not ask about someones age?" Deran teased her.
Deran leaned towards Caleigh, while slipping in a couple of blood pills into his water, allowing them to disenigrate and turn the water red, the sweet smell floating through the air. "I'll tell you how old I am, but you musn't tell anyone else. I was born at the time when the Roman Empire was just beginning to form. I honestly have lost count of how old I am, but in apperance I say I'm 21...and I will forever be that way." Deran looked at Caleigh as he leaned back in his chair, his eyes sparkling.

Cally laughed. "Now do you really want to leave a thought like that to my imagination?" She questioned with a mischievous smile. "really, you have no idea what goes on in there, some of the things I come up with might scare you away." Cally laughed at herself, she was only 15, and chances were anything that she could come up with, Deran would have already heard of.
Sitting next to Deran, Cally sipped at her butterbeer wondering what he was putting in his drink but not thinking it was her place to ask. "Nope they didn't," Cally said wrapping her hands around her drink. "Or at least I don't remember if they did..." Cally sighed, her memories form before her mother died seemed to be getting further and further away and harder to remember.
Cally leaned closer to Deran as he leaned toward her. Watching the crowd for a minute before taking another sip of her drink and turning to look back up at Deran. "I won't tell a sole," Cally promised. Silently she listed to how he had been around since the formation of the roman empire, but he would look 21 forever. Silently Cally looked down at her drink lost in her thoughts. "One day I'll look older than you," Callysaid softly her voice barely above a whisper, "And eventually, as all mortals must, I'll die..." Cally trailed off frowning slightly as she stared into her drink.

Deran smiled at her, "You don't need to worry about that now. You're only fifteen, you have a couple more years...at least until you are eighteen." Deran placed his hand over Caleigh's. He wanted to be sure Caleigh was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with before he did anything. He always wanted to make sure she would be able to handle it...the pain of watching others die that you had cared for...the life of healing wounds and blood being the only thing to keep you alive. He also knew he would only turn her if she believed in what his family had died for...to make peace with the humans.
"Plus you would be living off of this." Deran smiled, winking as he held up his glass.

"No I know.." Cally said trailing off. "But it's true, like I am right now, I will continue to age..." Cally smiled as she felt his hand on hers, and turned to look up at Deran. "I can wait until I'm 18," she said with a warm smile. At Deran commented on what she would be living off of, Cally shrugged her shoulders. "I'd prefer that to not being able to be with you..." Cally trailed off blushing.
Taking another sip of her drink Cally let her eyes scan the crowd again she was lucky no one she knew was there, or better yet, that any of the professors had left the school grounds who would recognize her... But then again it wasn't really like she was trying to hide, she was wearing her ravenclaw house cloak. Oh well. Turning her attention back to Deran Cally smiled.
"What was Nira like?" Cally asked softly wanting a bit more insight into his past and what it would have been like back then.
