Deran smiled softly, "I would rather die, than to live a life without you, Caleigh." He softly held her face, and then kissed her on the lips. He drew away, his eyes looking into her's. His hand fell back on top of hers and he smiled.
"Nira was one of those people who never grew up. She didn't whine or complain and she found the positive in everything. I was older than her, but I feel like she taught me more than I taught her. When she was alive, she made me feel alive. She would run around jumping for joy at the simpliest of things. She would try to chase the sunset, and gather up a rainbow. Her favorite thing to do was climb trees and pretend she was a bird. I used to put her on my shoulders and we would run around so she could feel like she was flying." Deran smiled as he took another sip of his drink.
"She was the happiest girl alive, and she never held a grudge even when my Uncle killed my parents she told him she forgave him, but it was the first time I had seen her cry and be scared, and I never forgave him for doing that to her. The Kieler house was her castle, and I was her best friend. We were the youngest in the clan, and a lot of the neighboring kids didn't come near us...I guess they were afraid that we would eat them or something. She loved to play dolls and dress up, she was a true child at heart. A pure, innocent child....that is what my father always used to say. My family were the world to me, we shared so many experiences together and we all loved the little things like watching a flower bloom or a thunderstorm.....we were very happy."
Deran paused, "Nira was sixteen when she died, but she had lived for many years. It is hard just to say what she was like in one sitting. When you go to the house, I might remember some things and I'll tell you about them. However, those are the only memories that I can remember at the moment." Deran tilted his head, a smile across his face.

Cally smiled as Deran held her face softly and kissed her, she was speechless, she'd never felt so close to someone she'd just met, or so attached. She couldn't imagine ever living without him. It didn't matter that she was only 15, she knew what she was feeling in her heart and Caleigh knew that her life was meant to be spent with Deran, She'd finally found a place where she belonged and where she would be truly accepted. Caleigh knew her father wouldn't understand, He'd tell her that she was too young to know what love was, but what did he know, her Father had betrayed the one person he had claimed to love about all else, so how did he really know what love was.
Cally listened quietly as Deran spoke of his sister. The way he remembered Nira made Cally sad. How could someone be so cruel to take such a lovely being from the planet. Things would be so much better if more people like Nira existed. Letting go of her drink, Cally rested her other hand on top of Deran's, turning her body more towards him. Cally had never had a sibling until she was older, and she didn't know them well enough, so the small Ravenclaw girl didn't know what it was like to grow up so closely with another child that was related to you by blood.
Smiling up at Deran as he finished, Cally's smile didn't quite reach her eyes. How had he lived for so long alone? Cally couldn't imagine the pain that Deran must have bottled up for years, the hatred for his uncle. Cally herself knew that she would never have been able to forgive anyone if they'd done that to her family. "I would love it if you would tell me more if you remembered it then," Caleigh said nodding her head. "I really can't wait to go to your house...." Cally trailed off not sure what else to say her thoughts swarming with all the different losses and pain that people went through. The world was such a cruel place.

Deran smiled reassuranigly, "hopefully you will be able to go there soon, I still have do a little more cleaning, and I have to reapply the protection spells." Deran also noted that he would have to clean up the part where he made the blood pills, and move it back down into the cellar.
Deran paused for a couple of seconds and then continued, "You know seeing how you will be staying there, I was wondering if you wanted anything in particular. We used to have a huge garden, but over time and without anyone caring for it, like my mother did, I could replant it for you. Or is there anything else you would want? You can talk to me about anything, whatever is on your mind, or what you want, Caleigh. I live only for you now, and I will always be there to listen to you. I should have told you this earlier, but because I had the red cloth that I gave you for so long, I have been able to sense it. If you are ever hurt, or need anything just say my name and I will be there, as long as the cloth is on you." Deran smiled, knowing that once he did turn Caleigh there would be no need for the red cloth, they would be connected in their mind, bodies and souls.

"I wish we could go now," Cally pouted with a sad longing sigh. "Protection spells?" Caleigh questioned, "from what exactly?"
"A garden would be wonderful," Caleigh said with a smile. She and her mother'd had a garden every year when she was young, even up until the summer when she passed... Mind you Caleigh had been so destroyed she had let that garden die and hadn't saved any of the seeds to plant the following year so she hadn't had a garden since.
A slow blush creeped back into Caleighs delicate features and Deran said he only lived for her now. "I just want you," Caleigh said softly with a smile. It was true, Caleigh couldn't think of any other material possession that she'd want more then just to be with Deran.
As Deran talked about the piece of red fabric in her pocket and how it would link him to her no matter where she was, Cally's hand went to her pocket, her fingers search for the soft cloth. She found it and smiled. "Really?" Cally asked slowly. "Even within the gates of Hogwarts Castle?" Caleigh raised a questioning eyebrow, she didn't know how easy it would be for Deran to get on the grounds, but she figured it was possible, just like it was possible for her to get out without authorization.

Deran laughed, "We will go soon enough. The protection spells help keep the house intact as it was the first day it was made, that way the furniture and paintings and everything in it doesn't age a single day. They are also spells to keep intruders out, those who would of wanted to burn our house as well. They are all still working, but I thought I would just go over them again just to give myself a peace of mind."
Deran noticed Caleigh looking in her pocket and he guessed she was looking for the red cloth. "Yes, even inside the walls of Hogwarts. I would go to a place where no man could ever go, Caleigh to get to you, even if it was just to see your beautiful face."

Cally shivered as she listened to Deran talk about the fact there was still people out in the world that would want to burn down his house, but then again, didn't he say earlier that people wanted to kill him too. "I still can't believe anyone would want to hurt you, after so many years..." Cally paused. "You would think they'd have seen the truth by now, and the goodness in you" Sighing quietly, Cally brushed a lock of brown hair out of her eyes as she took another sip of her drink.
Cally smiled as Deran said that if she ever needed him inside Hogwarts, he would be able to get to her there too. It gave her a peace of mind, not that there was any threat at school, but just being out in the world in general. It was a scary place.
"Deran..." Caleigh started slowly turning to look up at him. "Do you think it's weird, us being like this?" Cally paused knowing that she phrased her question wrong. Frowning she tried again. "Not us I mean, but how comfortable we were with each other right away, and the connection we feel after just having met..." Cally trailed off biting her bottom lip. She hoped it didn't sound like she thought it was wrong, it was just this was the first time this had ever happened to her.

Deran nodded, "some people can be blinded by hate, and it consumes them until they accomplish what drives them or until they die themselves."
Deran looked at Caleigh when she asked about them, and he squeezed her hand. "I know it is a strange feeling, and this is probably the first time you have ever felt this way. I on the other hand, have lived a very long time, not saying that I know any better than you do about it, but I think I know love when I see it and feel it in resonating through my heart and soul."
Deran smiled, "When my father and mother met, they always told my sister and I that they fell in love at first sight. My father's dog and had ran over and ripped up my mother's garden that she was planting. My dad spent the rest of the day apologizing and helping her replant the whole thing. They said they didn't even introduce themselves. My dad didn't know my mother's name until the next day. Though they always told us that when they met everything just kind of came out, like they had known each other for years. My parents were fourteen years old..human wise when they met." Deran smiled as he recalled the memory.
"They loved each other till the end...they died in each others arms, trying to protect us." Deran frowned slightly as he saw his family before him, the memory crystal clear as if he was reliving it, he tensed, took a deep breath and then pushed his emotions away.

Cally gave a slow, sad sigh. "I don't know what I would do if anyone ever hurt you," Cally murmured under her breath. "I wouldn't be able to live. I wouldn't want to live, I can tell you that much."
Smiling as she felt Deran squeez her hand, Cally looked up at him, her eyes meeting his. "I feel it too," Cally said softly with a smile. Listening as Deran talked about his parents, Cally couldn't help but giggle at his fathers dog causing so much trouble. But at the same time, his story confused her. Deran's parents had been human, yet Deran himself was a vampire.
"Wait hold on, rewind," Cally said her head spinning. "You lost me. You're parents met when they were human.. yet you are a a vampire and always have been... You're going to have to explain that one."
Cally felt Deran's body tense, and she looked up scared. "What were you just thinking about?" Cally asked her voice full of concern. "Something about your parents? About the night they died?" Caleigh didn't mean to press the issue, but the way his whole body had tensed like he was remembering more then he was telling had the young ravenclaw scared.

Deran smiled, "Don't worry, nothing will happen to me. I have fought many battles already, most of my enemies are long gone."
Deran arched his eyebrow, and then he laughed. "I'm sorry, I should have said that more clearly. They looked fourteen at the time, they were really around nine hundred years old when they met. My parents were both purebloods, which makes me a pureblood as well."
Deran shook his head, "I'm allright, I just let my guard down. You see, when you're a vampire, you have the ability to repress all memories and emotions. Though, I have repressed my memories so long, I have to wait until something happens, either from actions, events or words, for me to be able to remember again. When I do remember.....I remember as if it were happening right now. I...what just happened was me reliving the....my parents dying." Deran paused and closing his eyes, keeping the memory from coming up again.
"For an example, if I wanted to, I could wipe away all my memories, thoughts and feelings for you, and I wouldn't feel a thing towards you. Though I would never do that." Deran smiled and kissed the top of Caleigh's hand, looking into her eyes.

"If nothing can happen to you, then why so many precautions?" Cally frowned confused. "I understand the preserving of the house to keep it the way it was when your family was alive..." Caleigh sighed. "Sorry I don't mean to ask so many questions, I guess I've just lived a very sheltered life, I don't see the danger in everyday situations."
As Deran clarified what he meant Cally smiled. "Ohhhhh, okay, that makes sense. You had me confused." Cally blushed
As Deran explained about how memories affect him, and are the gate ways to his emotions. Cally pouted as Deran said he could, if he wanted to, erase all memories of her. Biting her bottom lip, Cally couldn't help but smile slight. "That would be rather rude. And not to mention heartbreaking."
Pressing herself closer to Deran, Cally rested her head on his shoulder, it was out of comfort and her desire to be closer to him. "I love you," she said softly, her voice slightly muffled by the fabric of his cloak.

"One never knows when a new enemy will be formed, and I can die. Plus you will be there and I don't want anything to happen to you." Deran smiled.
Deran let her lean against him, and he wrapped his arm around her waist, holding her gently. He burried his face in her hair, smelling her sweet scent. He kissed the top of her head, "I love you too."

Cally's blush deepened as Deran added the fact that she was going to be there now too, and it reinforced in her mind that she was important to someone and she did matter.
Resting her head against his shoulder Cally sat there quietly for a minute, letting her thoughts spin as she watched the people walking in and out of the front doors. Sitting up, Cally's body tensed as she saw one of the professors from Hogwarts walk through the front doors. Luckily the light was low and they were seated at the back of the tavern, so Cally wasn't too worried about being seen, but all the same it was a little to close for comfort.
"Any chance you want to teach me how to swim so we can get outta here?" Cally said quietly, her eyes going back and forth from the professor who had just walked in Deran.

Deran also noticed the professor come in and he looked at Caleigh. He noticed the expression on her face, and he looked at her. "Of course, though I haven't taught anyone in a long time, so I might be a little rusty. Though I won't let anything happen to you." Deran smiled as he got up, holding Caleigh next to him. "I believe there is a back way out of here, so we can go that way. Otherwise, they would be breaking fire safety regulations." Deran chuckled as he watched the professor, making sure that he would hide Caleigh, the moment his head turned.

Caleigh smiled. "That's okay, I can sort of swim... I guess... It looks more like I'm floundering in the water but it's all good." Caleigh blushed as she took the last sip of her butterbear turning her body more toward Deran and away from the front of the tavern so her house crest wouldn't be recognized. "You know, you'd think if I didn't want to be seen, I would have worn something that didn't scream Hogwarts student."
Brushing her hair out of her eyes, Caleigh smiled. "No it's okay, we can go through the front door, going out the back way would only draw attention to us. Now if we were in the Hogs Head, that would be totally normal.." Cally trailed off. "I'm rambling," she said with a blush drawing her cloak tighter around herself as she stood up with Deran.

Deran laughed quietly, "As you wish. If we do by chance get caught, which I would never allow to happen, I could make him forget that he ever saw you." Deran smiled.
He held Caleigh close to him as they walked out of the three broomsticks. Deran carefully watched everyone, as they made their way through the crowd.
