Deran, after coming so close to death, had decided to go to the cemetery. He did not know anyone who was burried there, but he felt the need to pay respects to those people who had fallen.
Deran leaned against a tree, which was placed in the darker area of the cemetery. He stared out at the gray and white slabs which marked the burial place of someone beloved who was lost. Feeling he was alone, he spoke out loud hopping that the thoughts once spoken would become clearer to him.
"Nira, before you died, you told me to remember you. To keep you in my memories so that you wouldn't be erased from this world, so that you would live on. I have remembered sister, I have remembered everyone and everything. But, I fear that when I die no one will remember you..or mom or dad...our story...and even me. I'm scared Nira, scared that once I die no one would mourn for me, no one would remember me. I'm afraid that death will be cold, harsh, a place without love and without you."
Deran sighed and leaned his head against the tree. "Nira, I shouldn't be afraid though should I? All living creatures die....it's something we have in common. Though, there are other things as well. Our love and desire to stay alive, to hold onto life...our families and friends, our memories...our passions and joys....our loves. We all posses these traits, and it kills me to watch us clash weapons against each other. If only we took the time to understand each other...things like death wouldn't be such a frightening thing."
Deran closed his eyes, a cool mist surrounding and enveloping him in the dark cemetery.
