Ava listened intently to want Deran said and thought about it.'Did he say he avenged his family's death? That means he killed his uncle..' That news got Ava thinking because she wouldn't want Andrew killing one of her family members. Then again, if they had killed her dad they deserved to die. She hated thinking this way, but it was true.
"I just hope he doesn't get hurt trying to uncover what happened," Ava said in response to Deran's comment about her brother's investigation.
The afternoon was shifting and Ava glanced at her watch. It was 2:04 pm, she had been on this bench for almost an hour now. Clouds were concealing the sun and it looked like it was going to rain soon. Ava hoped it would, she loved storms, especially thunderstorms.

Deran nodded about her comment about her brother not getting hurt. A cold breeze blew and on it Deran could smell the rain. "Ah, it's going to rain. Good thing too, the flowers in the yard need a little drink." Deran stated, not really clarifying that he meant the flowers he planted next to his famlies and clans graves, they were of course blood red, something people liked to call the vampire's fang. Deran silently hopped that it would thunderstorm seeing how many more animals that were sick would try to take shelter in his seemingly safe woods, allowing him to sadly to take their life so he could sustain his own.
Deran smiled, as he looked at Ava. "Do you like the rain?"

The cold breeze that blew by caused Ava to shiver.
"Rain is great for plants, and animals. Do you like gardening?" Ava asked while digging in her backpack for a sweater. "I love the rain, especially thunderstorms. They are just amazing things nature has created. I like watching lightning flash and hearing the thunder's loud boom afterward. It's just comforting I guess." She felt like she was rambling so she ended her little spiel quickly. She left out the fact that her father also loved thunderstorms and how they would count the seconds between the lightning and thunder to see how far away the storm was.
"Darn, I left my sweater in the dorms. I guess I'm not always prepared," she said with a sigh. The clouds were growing darker and it looked like it was going to start pouring any second.

Deran without thinking responded to her question, "Not really, I mean I like gardening but the only things I've really planted are the flowers in the graveyard, so it's kind of a solomn experience."
Deran noticed her shiver and he wondered if he should buy her a sweater. He would have offered his cloak, but he felt that was too personal especially from someone he had just met. "Thunderstorms are truly amazing. Do you want to go inside somewhere, or do you want me to get you something warm?"

A raindrop plopped right on Ava's nose and she glanced at the sky. It was almost completely black and lightning flashed.
"Uh, we can go inside somewhere if you want," she was flattered that he offered to buy her a jacket, but felt it would be too much with all the surrounding shops they could easily enter. Plus, the bench was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable. It would be great to sit in a nice comfy chair inside a warm pub, sipping butterbeer while the storm raged outside. Ava stood up and stretched, cracking her back. Then she slung her backpack around her shoulder and picked up her bag of quills and books. It stunk that she had to buy more ink and parchment. She made a mental note to pick some up before heading back to the castle later.

Deran smiled as he got up. "Allright, I know just the place that will warm you up, plus one can always find an excuse to go to the three broomsticks. Unless of course you have objections." Deran stated as he followed her, just as the first drops of rain began to fall from the sky. He sensed that it was going to be an outburst of pouring rain, and he quickened his pace, mainly so Ava wouldn't get drenched, seeing how the cold didn't affect him.

As the cold rain really began to pelt down Ava followed Deran into the road.
"The Three Broomsticks sounds great!" she said with a genuine smile. Ava hadn't smiled like that in a long time. As they continued down the street goosebumps emerged on her exposed arms. Deran's pace was fast, but because of her morning jogs Ava could keep up easily.
They entered the slightly crowded pub a few minutes later. A couple of Hogwarts students, mostly Ravenclaws and Gryffindors, shouted greetings at Ava. She returned them warmly. There was an empty table toward the back, but the smell of butterbeer enticed her as they passed the bar.
"Do you mind if I order something to drink? I can get you something too, if you want," Ava asked stopping at the bar. Butterbeer would be perfect in this weather.

Deran noticed the other student's and peoples reaction when Ava walked into the three broomsticks. She certainly had a lot of friends, or at least was sociable. Deran noticed an empty table in the back. When Ava said she wanted to get something, he brought his attention to her. "You go right ahead, I'm fine for the time being." Deran smiled. "I'm going to go grab that table in the back before more people come in."
Deran turned and walked towards the table, as he quickly slipped a blood pill into his mouth. He could never manage to eat or drink human food with the low blood amount he was consuming. He savored the taste, as he sat down waiting for Ava to return.

"Okay, I'll be right there," Ava said to Deran as she turned toward the bar to order her butterbeer. As she was waiting, one of her fellow Ravenclaw students chatted with her. She tried her best to respond, but was slightly annoyed by the questions the girl was asking. Relief shot through her when she received her butterbeer and excused herself from the conversation.
It was like weaving through an obstacle course on her way to the back table. Familiar faces were everywhere and she was getting whiplash from turning her head so much.
"Wow, this place gets crowded fast," Ava said as she sat down. She took a swig of butterbeer and instantly felt better. Now that she was half-hidden among the crowd, less people were shouting to her. That was one bad thing about being outgoing, everyone knew you.

Deran had been able to finish two more pills in the time it took Ava to get her drink. He leaned back in the chair, amussed that no one here knew who he was. "It sure does, though I'm sure the rain helped bring more people in. You looked annoyed up there talking to that girl. Not a small talk person?" Deran smiled, laughing quietly so she knew that he was just joking.

Ava traced the opening of her butterbeer bottle thinking about how to respond. She knew he was joking, but she answered seriously.
"I like small talk, just not when it's about my personal life," she made a face and took another sip of her butterbeer. "Especially not with people like Hilda Waters, who is the gossip center of Hogwarts," she rolled her eyes. "So many people here have no lives that they live on the drama of everyone else."
After saying that, Ava looked around the place more thoroughly. She saw her brother over on the other side with a couple friends. They were talking to some seventh year girls. 'He's such a player,' she thought sourly.
Ava closed her eyes for just a second and listened to the thunder outside. She wished that they could've sat near a window so she could see the lightning.

Deran looked at her and noticed her look around the room, her gaze slightly resting on an older guy who looked somewhat like her. He concentrated and picked up his scent, yup he was deffiently Ava's brother, they had very simillar blood scents. Deran smiled, "Well, gossip never seems to die out, it is true that it helps people with boring lives to find some entertainment. Though it can be used as a way to mask your own feelings as well."
Deran listened to the thunderstorm briefly before continuing, "Is your brother here?"

Ava turned her attention back to Deran. The pub seemed to have gotten even more filled. The people at the table behind her were practical sitting on her lap. "That's true. Most people also start gossip to get attention drawn away from them." She looked at Deran closely. When she had first met her earlier she had noticed the scars that covered his face, but not like she did now. They contrasted with his appearance greatly, but not in a bad way. They screamed experience and pain all in one.
There was a particularly loud clap of thunder and then Deran spoke again."How did you know he was here?" she asked astounded. She then realized it sounded like she was accusing him of something. Ava quickly reworded it, "I mean, yeah. He's over there, pretty tall with the same hair color as mine," she gestured over to where Andrew was.

Deran smiled as she studdied him, apparently his facial features were overlooked before. Being used to it he brushed it aside, along with her other comment about him noticing her brother, what was he going to say...I'm a vampire and I could smell his blood? Deran laughed, "I didn't say I knew he was here I merely asked if he was, seeing how it is a rather large crowd and you mentioned before that he goes to Hogwarts."
Deran smiled fiddling with one of the shakers on the table. "I wonder what he would think if he saw you sitting with someone like me...I am older after all, and my apperance doesn't suggest a pleasant past. Im really just curious you could say, I wouldn't leave either way."

Ava really didn't feel like questioning Deran further, so she accepted what he said.
"Sorry, I guess I just jumped to conclusions," she said sheepishly. She drank some more butterbeer and looked around the room again, still listening to Deran. The last thing he said caught her attention. She laughed and sighed.
"If my brother saw me right now with you he would probably assume what Hilda did; that we're on a date. Only, instead of telling him politely that we are definitely not on a date like I did with Hilda I would most likely punch him. If he didn't think that, then he would think that I was paying you to tutor me or something. He doesn't believe that I have a photographic memory and that I actually study and am smart without others' help," she chuckled again and tucked some hair behind her ears.
After thinking about that, she really did hope her brother didn't notice her. She didn't want to cause a scene in front of almost the entire student population minus first and second years. Ava shifted her chair so that her back was toward Andrew.
